Paul will be based in Hong Kong and start the new role next month, according to a memo seen by Bloomberg. He will report to Will McLane, HSBC’s group head of strategy and corporate development, the memo shows.
In his new role, Paul will oversee all group M&A activity for HSBC, helping to identify strategic opportunities for the bank and executing its transaction pipeline. He joined HSBC in 2007 and was most recently global co-head of technology, digital and financial services investment banking.
