GE Unveils ‘Vernova’ Name for Power Business Ahead of Breakup

General Electric Co. will name its power business GE Vernova following a planned three-way breakup, the manufacturer said as it revealed branding details of the soon-to-be independent operations.

The name, derived from words such as “verde” and “novus,” reflects the company’s ambitions to offer lower-carbon-energy products, GE said Monday in a statement. GE HealthCare, which remains on track for a 2023 spinoff, will retain that name, while the jet-engine manufacturing business will be called GE Aerospace, a slight change from the current GE Aviation moniker.
