Future Buys ‘The Week’ Publisher Dennis for $415 Million

Future Plc agreed to buy most of Dennis Publishing Ltd. for about 300 million pounds ($415 million), adding magazine and web titles in a push for North American readers.

The U.K. specialist publisher and e-commerce company is using existing credit facilities to acquire most of Dennis’s brands, including flagship current affairs magazine The Week, according to a statement from the company on Monday.

With print sales in sharp decline, magazine owners need new ways to generate revenue from their titles. Future’s approach is to use them as a channel for drumming up interest in goods and services sold online.
