U.S. antitrust enforcers will switch to a temporary electronic merger notification filing system in the wake of the novel coronavirus and temporarily stop granting early clearance to deals subject to federal review.
Starting March 17th, neither the Justice Department nor the Federal Trade Commission will accept any paper submissions from companies intending to complete mergers or acquisitions, the FTC said in a statement issued Friday.
Companies must submit all documents needed for federal merger reviews via a secure file transfer platform. Under this temporary system, no mergers will be granted early termination, the FTC said.
