Citigroup Hires Ex-Nomura Executive for Japan Investment Banking

Citigroup Inc. hired veteran investment banker Akira Kiyota from Nomura Holdings Inc., the latest sign of competition for talent among global financial firms as they seek to benefit from Japan’s dealmaking boom.

The former Nomura Securities Co. senior managing director will become co-head of investment banking for Japan in October, according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg. Kiyota will share the post with Taiji Nagasaka, currently Citigroup’s Japan head of investment banking products and stock underwriting.
