Citi Hires Leveraged-Finance Banker to Chase Private Equity Work

Citigroup Inc. hired Ryan Williams from Bank of Montreal to co-lead part of its leveraged-finance business, the latest move by its banking head to strengthen the firm’s focus on private equity clients.

Williams will become co-head of leveraged-finance origination and syndication for North America, alongside Scott Sartorius, according to a memo to staff from John McAuley, Citigroup’s head of debt capital markets for North America. A bank spokesperson confirmed the contents of the memo, seen by Bloomberg News.
