Carlyle Taps Elder to Lead Unit Supporting Portfolio Companies

Carlyle Group Inc. hired an executive of a Dutch chemicals business it owns to oversee a unit that helps support the private equity firm’s more than 270 portfolio companies.

Richard Elder, who’s joining Carlyle’s global portfolio solutions group this month from Amsterdam-based Nouryon, will lead a team of about 35 people to assist those companies with digital strategy, technology and expense management, among other things, according to people familiar with the matter.
