Carlyle Names David Basto Americas Consumer Private Equity Head

Carlyle Group Inc. named David Basto as head of consumer in the Americas within its private equity arm.

A spokesperson for Carlyle confirmed the appointment and declined to comment further. The firm communicated the news to staff last week.

Carlyle has had staff turnover in its consumer arm. The firm’s global head of consumer, media and retail, Jay Sammons, left last year to launch a private equity firm with Kim Kardashian.
