Brown-Forman Said to Receive Sazerac Approach Amid Pernod Talks

Sazerac, the maker of Southern Comfort whiskey, is competing with Pernod Ricard SA for a potential deal to combine with spirits producer Brown-Forman Corp., a person with knowledge of the matter said.

Closely held Sazerac recently made an approach to Brown-Forman about a transaction, according to the person, who asked not to be identified because the information is private.

Brown-Forman, whose brands include Jack Daniel’s, continues to progress in separate talks about a potential deal with French rival Pernod Ricard and the two sides remain motivated to reach an agreement, two people said.
