Brazil Utility’s Privatization Gains Interest From Several Firms

At least four companies are considering buying a controlling stake in Copasa, after the Brazilian water utility made its privatization plans public last week, according to people familiar with the matter.

French giant Veolia Environnement SA, Brazilian investment fund Perfin and local utilities Sabesp and Aegea are among the companies showing interest in Cia. de Saneamento de Minas Gerais, Copasa’s formal name, in a process expected to happen by April, the people said, asking not to be named because talks are private.
