Blackstone Hires Carlyle’s Moalemzadeh for Opportunistic Bets

Blackstone Group Inc. hired Shary Moalemzadeh, a longtime Carlyle Group Inc. executive, for its opportunistic investing platform.

Moalemzadeh, 49, joins Blackstone in April as a senior managing director in the tactical opportunities group, the New York-based firm said Monday in an emailed statement. He’ll report to David Blitzer, the unit’s global head.

Blackstone’s tactical opportunities business invests across a range of assets, unconstrained by the specific strategies other funds have. Its funds gained about 11% in the fourth quarter and recent deals include investments in cybersecurity company FireEye Inc. and Chinese data center business 21Vianet Group Inc. ...
