Bill Gates Sells $730 Million of CN Rail Stock, Cuts Stake to 8%

Bill Gates unloaded about $730 million worth of Canadian National Railway Co. shares, adding to a streak of sales that’s cut his stake in the company to 7.8% from 13% a year ago.

Cascade Investment, the Washington-based investment firm that manages Gates’s $119 billion fortune, trimmed about 10% of its holding from May 13 to May 25, according to a filing this week.

Cascade, which has sold more than $2 billion of shares in the Montreal-based railway since May 2021, retains a stake worth about $6 billion.
