Berkshire Buys Stake in Nubank Valuing Firm at $30 Billion (1)

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. agreed to purchase a $500 million stake in Nubank, a major endorsement for a Brazilian fintech that’s expanded to become the world’s biggest standalone digital bank.

Berkshire’s investment is an extension of a fundraising round in January, Nu Pagamentos SA, as the firm is formally known, said in an emailed statement Tuesday. The deal values the company at $30 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified.
