The Department of Justice approved Louisiana Health Service & Indemnity Co.'s acquisition of a majority stake in health insurer Vantage Holdings Inc.
The acquisition by Louisiana Health Service, which is doing business as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, is “unlikely to result in harm to American consumers,” according to a June 18 statement by Makan Delrahim, the DOJ’s Assistant Attorney General who heads the antitrust division.
Antitrust officials focused their seven-month investigation on whether the deal, announced in October, 2018, would lessen competition and impact consumer costs.
