Bayer Sued by Kingstown Hedge Fund in Germany Over Monsanto

New York hedge fund Kingstown Capital Management L.P. sued Bayer AG in a German court over the Monsanto takeover, claiming it lost 37 million euros ($45 million) due to a plunge in the chemical giant’s share value.

The suit was filed late last year in the Cologne Regional Court, a spokeswoman for the tribunal confirmed on Friday. Bayer failed to inform its shareholders before the 2018 Monsanto acquisition about the risks associated with it, the suit argues. News magazine Wirtschaftswoche reported the case earlier on Friday.
