Asian Long-Short Hedge Fund Kaizen Gained 34% Through September

Kaizen Capital Partners’ flagship hedge fund posted gains of 33.7% this year through September, according to an investor memo reviewed by Bloomberg News.

The Hong Kong-based firm is led by founder and chief investment officer Ramesh Karthigesu, a former portfolio manager at Marshall Wace Asset Management, and chief executive officer Shiong Tan, a former Blackstone Inc. executive.

The vehicle, Kaizen Asia Pacific Master Fund, began investing with ambitions to “consistently capture idiosyncratic opportunities.” It takes high-conviction, long and short positions in Asia Pacific equities and delivered returns of 46.6% from its inception in April 2020 through Dec. 31, ...
