American Express to Sell Anti-Fraud Company Accertify to PE Firm

American Express Co. agreed to sell Accertify to private equity firm Accel-KKR, a move that the companies said will let the fraud-prevention technology company accelerate its growth.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. American Express bought Accertify, which offers services including fraud prevention, charge-back management and account protection, in 2010.

“Accertify helps customers reduce fraud and charge-back costs, and ultimately increase revenue,” Park Durrett, managing director at Menlo Park, California-based Accel-KKR, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to partner with the entire team at Accertify on its next phase of growth.”
