If January is anything to go by, 2021 could be the best year ever for initial public offerings of special purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs. So far this month, 91 deals have been announced on U.S. exchanges, with a goal of raising $25.7 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. At that pace, this year could exceed 2020’s record, which saw $83.3 billion raised through 248 transactions.
