Abu Dhabi’s IHC Wins Bid for Zambia’s Mopani Copper Mines (1)

Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company PJSC is set to buy a stake in Zambia’s Mopani copper mine, securing access to the metal that’s key to the energy transition as fears grow over future supplies.

A unit of IHC – International Resources Holding RSC Ltd. – will be Mopani’s strategic equity partner, Zambia’s majority state-owned ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc said in a statement to the local stock exchange late Thursday.

The new investor will help revive the major copper-and-cobalt mines that Glencore Plc previously owned. South Africa’s Sibanye Stillwater Ltd. was also still in the running when the decision was made. ...
