ZOLL Medical Narrows Proposed Class Action Over Data Breach

ZOLL Medical Corp. failed to convince a federal court to dismiss the entirety of a consolidated data breach case alleging that the emergency medical device manufacturer failed to protect the personal information of more than one million people.

Plaintiffs in the proposed class action—who are both customers and employees of the company—can pursue claims based on the emotional toll of dealing with the threat of identity theft, and on incidents linked to ZOLL’s data breach, Judge Indira Talwani of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts said.
