Yum! Brands Settles Taco Bell App Patent Infringement Claims

Yum! Brands Inc.—which owns the Taco Bell and Pizza Hut brands—filed a stipulation of dismissal in a patent dispute over its mobile ordering app.

Analytical Technologies LLC possesses a patent that enables a consumer “to use their mobile phone to interact with the restaurant without the involvement of the restaurant’s staff.” The Wyoming-based company alleged that Yum! incorporated the technology described in the patent into mobile apps for its branded restaurants.
