A Youtuber who claimed the Alphabet Inc.-owned social media site and other YouTube video creators copied his content in violation of copyright law had his claims dismissed for failing to comply with copyright registration requirements before filing suit.
The US District Court for the District of Massachusetts decided Tuesday, in granting Google’s motion to dismiss, that it need not decide whether Jose Maria DeCastro adequately pleaded a claim for copyright infringement because copyright registration is a prerequisite for a copyright suit.
