Pence Had No Reason to Act on Presidential Ballots, Yoo Says (1)

Conservative law professor John Yoo, testifying in defense of Trump attorney John Eastman, told the California State Bar Court that he doesn’t share his colleague’s belief that Vice President Mike Pence had basis to alter the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Yoo said Wednesday he saw nothing to trigger the vice president’s authority to resolve a dispute over ballots. And the University of California Berkeley Law professor said his view remains there wasn’t a dispute over competing slates of electors. Both positions contradict those taken by Eastman at the trial.
