Yelp Must Face Texas Suit Over Pregnancy Center Disclaimers

Yelp Inc. must face claims from the state of Texas over disclaimers the business review website tagged to clinics that oppose abortion.

A statewide appeals court rejected Yelp’s position that it can’t be sued in Texas since the disclaimers were also assigned to crisis pregnancy centers in other states.

Accepting that theory of jurisdiction “would create perverse incentives, encouraging actors to commit harms everywhere to avoid being” sued in any jurisdiction” Court of Appeals, Fifteenth District Justice April Farris said in the opinion Thursday.
