Writer Appeals Apple’s Win in ‘Servant’ TV Series Copyright Suit

A writer and director is appealing Apple Inc. and director M. Night Shyamalan’s win over her claim the AppleTV series “Servant” infringed her 2013 movie.

Francesca Gregorini filed a notice of her appeal to the Ninth Circuit Monday, weeks after her bid for a new trial was denied in the US District Court for the Central District of California. She sued Apple and several other defendants responsible for “Servant,” arguing the “shockingly” similar plot ripped off her movie “The Truth About Emanuel.”
