Women’s Networking Group Liable for Bulk of Wage and Hour Claims

A women’s professional networking company, National Association of Professional Women, is liable for failing to pay overtime and willful violation of federal and New York labor laws in a class and collective action brought by sales representatives, a federal trial court ruled.

Judge Margo K. Brodie of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York adopted a magistrate judge’s recommendations that the plaintiffs have shown NAPW failed to pay overtime, as required under the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York Labor Law, because the company lacks records to show the employees received overtime.
