Wigdor LLP Defeats Leon Black’s Malicious Prosecution Claims (1)

Leon Black failed to defend his malicious prosecution claim against New York law firm Wigdor LLP, which is representing a woman who accused him of sexual assault, a New York appellate court said Thursday as it tossed the Apollo Global Management founder’s suit.

Black’s claim doesn’t meet the evidence standards under the anti-Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Petition and Participation law, which “requires the submission of evidence such as an affidavit rather than reliance on the mere allegations in the complaint,” the New York Supreme Court First Appellate Department said in its unauthored opinion.
