A divided Michigan Supreme Court on Friday declined to revive an immigrant aid group’s lawsuit against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) over a state policy of denying workers living in the country illegally wage-loss benefits because of their immigration status.
In an unsigned order, the majority said it wasn’t persuaded the court should review an intermediate appeals court ruling that tossed the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center’s lawsuit because it missed a one-year notice deadline.
