The Western Athletic Conference hit the University of the Incarnate Word with a $2 million lawsuit alleging the school reneged on its agreement to join the conference.
The university, located in San Antonio, Texas, announced in November 2021 that it accepted an invitation to become a member of the WAC beginning July 1, 2022. In June 2022, however, the school announced it “has recommitted to continue its Division I athletics program in the Southland Conference.”
