Wendy’s Nursing Worker Sues Over Lack of Time, Space to Pump

Wendy’s Co. and its franchisees violate federal law by denying women who pump breast milk at work adequate time and a private space to do so, a new proposed class action says.

Nursing employees are instead forced to pump breast milk in dirty bathrooms or stock rooms or use their own cars, the suit filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio says. That violates decades'-old provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and a recent FLSA amendment passed to close gaps in the protections and legal remedies available to nursing moms, the suit says. ...
