Wells Fargo Signs $19.5 Million California Privacy Class Deal

Wells Fargo Bank agreed to contribute to a $19.5 million to settle allegations that it listened in on customer calls in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act, according to a court filing.

It’s the second largest CIPA settlement ever, the motion for final approval said, and if approved nearly 19,000 claimants will get an average of $680.49 from the deal. In addition to Wells Fargo, the settlement covers telemarketing firm Credit Wholesale Co. and a payment processing company Priority Commerce.
