WebMD Subscriber Wins Class Treatment for Video Privacy Lawsuit

A lawsuit alleging that WebMD LLC shared the video watching histories of its subscribers with Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act can proceed as a class action.

Judge Thomas W. Thrash Jr. of the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia certified a class of people who had an email address associated with both a WebMD subscription and an account with Meta’s Facebook unit and for whom Meta possessed “event data” showing their video-viewing behavior on webmd.com.
