Weaver Bennett & Bland PA may proceed with fraud claims against two former partners who allegedly manipulated the firm’s internal affairs before leaving to start a competitor, a North Carolina court said.
Attorneys Matthew Villmer and Bo Caudill asked the North Carolina Superior Court for Mecklenburg County to dismiss their old firm’s complaint for failure to state a claim. WBB accused Villmer and Caudill of influencing its client distribution, the management of its employees, and other aspects of its business in order to move several clients and employees to their own firm, Villmer Caudill PLLC.
