Washington University Will Face Student’s Anti-Trans Bias Claim

A former University of Washington at Tacoma student can go to trial on her claim that the school unlawfully dismissed her from its social work program based on bias, a federal judge said.

A jury must decide if Claudia Arias was removed from the university’s program due to a professor’s personal disagreement with her views on transgender issues, as opposed to her alleged failure to meet defined professional standards, the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said Monday.
