A Tacoma, Wash. lawyer is the latest attorney to face possible sanctions for allegedly misusing AI tools while preparing court filings.
Judge Tiffany M. Cartwright of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington on Wednesday ordered Jocelyn C. Stewart to show cause as to why she shouldn’t face sanctions or other discipline for AI use that led to her submitting “dozens of inaccurate factual and legal citations across at least five different filings.”
Cartwright said Stewart conceded that some of the citations at issue “were incorrect and has seemingly tried to address the errors.”
