Washington state beat a lawsuit from a suburban Seattle church claiming the state’s 2018 law requiring health insurance providers to cover abortion violates the First Amendment.
The Cedar Park Assembly of God lacks standing to sue because it failed to show that the state’s Reproductive Parity Act forced it to purchase a health insurance plan that covered abortions, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled Thursday in a divided decision.
