Warrantless Immigration Arrests, Detention Blocked in Oregon

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers may not, for now, arrest suspected undocumented immigrants in Oregon without a warrant and a finding that there’s probable cause to believe the person is a flight risk, a federal judge said.

Judge Mustafa T. Kasubhai, of the US District Court for the District of Oregon, on Feb. 27 preliminarily blocked ICE from “abusing” its power by arresting, detaining, and deporting people without first meeting those criteria.
