Warner’s Max Hit With Privacy Suit After Dodging Arbitration Bid

WarnerMedia Direct LLC is facing a proposed class action alleging it shared the viewing histories of subscribers to its HBO Max streaming service in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

The media business incorporated online tracking technology from Meta Platforms Inc. onto the HBO Max website, allowing the social-media and advertising company to collect information from subscribers’ interactions there, lead plaintiff Sheldon Eng alleged in a complaint filed March 25 in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
