Walmart Mechanics’ $1.4 Million FLSA Wage Deal Approved by Court

Feb. 26, 2026, 6:36 PM UTC

Walmart Inc. and a group of Ohio-based auto technicians resolved federal wage claims alleging mechanics were unlawfully required to work during their meal breaks.

The parties’ case will be closed because a federal judge approved their $1.4 million collective settlement in a Wednesday order filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. David Fortney and Eli Triplett had sued the retailer in September 2019, alleging violations to the Federal Labor Standards Act on behalf of similarly situated Walmart Tire & Auto workers across the country.
