Walgreens Must Face Melting Cutlery Complaint, Judge Rules

Walgreen Co. must face a proposed class suit over claims it sold purportedly dishwasher-safe plastic cutlery that actually melts in the lower rack of dishwasher, a Chicago federal judge ruled.

A California woman, Bridget Simpson, sued after the cutlery she put in the lower rack of her dishwasher melted into the appliance. The front of the box displayed a “dishwasher safe” label, but the bottom of the box clarified the product should only be placed in the top rack.

Simpson, on behalf of a proposed class, sued Walgreens along with the manufacturer and distributor of the cutlery.
