VW Extended Warranty Deal Gets Nod in Leaky Sunroof Litigation

Volkswagen Group of America Inc. and drivers of certain WV and Audi models got a federal judge’s initial approval for a class settlement that extends the warranties on vehicles alleged to have leak-prone sunroofs.

Sokol Gjonbalaj and others alleged water could get into their vehicles because of bad drainage and poor seals, potentially damaging electrical and audio systems, seat upholstery, and carpets.

The nationwide deal was tentatively approved Tuesday by Judge Brian M. Cogan of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
