Vulcan Quarry Plant Project Can Proceed, Texas Court Says

A rock crushing plant planned in Comal County, Texas will be allowed to proceed with construction, despite area residents raising numerous health and safety concerns about the 1,500 acre site.

The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality granted Vulcan Construction Materials LLC’s permit to process 1.5 million tons of limestone. Friends of Dry Comal Creek, a grassroots group opposing the project, and others raised concerns about the dust and fumes that could contaminate the air and sued the TCEQ and Vulcan to try to stop the project.
