The Trump Administration has unlawfully banned the League of Women Voters and other similar organizations from registering new citizens to vote at naturalization ceremonies, the group said in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
“The ban discriminates—based on viewpoint, content, and the identity of the speaker—against speech promoting the right to vote for new citizens, and tramples on the league’s freedom of association,” the organization and its local chapters said in their complaint in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.
