Two North Virginia school boards are challenging a reduction in their access to federal funding based on the schools’ transgender student policies.
The Arlington School Board and Fairfax County School Board claim the department’s decision to freeze its grants has removed access to $23 million in federal funding for Arlington and $167 million in funding for Fairfax in 2026. Much of the school’s federal funding goes to food services, they said.
