Virginia Beats Assistant Attorney General’s Pay, Sex Bias Suit

Virginia escaped a lawsuit from a former veteran female litigator alleging its Attorney General’s Office paid her less than male lawyers despite her equal or greater experience.

Many of Susan M. Harris’ claims are barred by sovereign immunity, the office and Virginia’s Department of Treasury aren’t Harris’ employers, and she failed to state a plausible claim for gender discrimination or retaliation, Judge David J. Novak said Thursday.
