Victims of Mediant Data Breach to Receive Up To $10,000 Each

Mediant Communications will pay up to $10,000 each to victims of an April 2019 data breach to reimburse them for their related out-of-pocket expenses, in a deal given final approval by a federal judge.

Phillip Toretto, Daniel King, and Sheri Braun sued after hackers stole the personal information of 225,000 individuals from Mediant’s business email accounts. They alleged that the hack was enabled by Mediant’s poor network security, and that the company failed to encrypt personal information and adequately notify its customers.
