The Villa Casa Casuarina in Miami Beach is suing a hotel chain for alleging infringing on its “Gianni’s” restaurant trademark.
Hotel Motel Inc operates Gianni’s Table at the Cambria Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Villa, operating as VMSB LLC, said Thursday that Gianni’s Table is at least substantially indistinguishable from its Gianni’s trademark.
The Villa, formerly the residence of murdered fashion designer Gianni Versace, sent a cease and desist letter November 2022, followed by a takedown notice in January. The Gianni’s Table website was shut down after the takedown notice, but its physical restaurant continues to operate.
