The Vermont Principals’ Association likely violated a Christian school’s First Amendment rights when it banned the institution from all extracurricular events after the school refused to compete against a team with a transgender athlete.
Mid Vermont Christian School is likely to show the association didn’t act neutrally toward the school’s religious beliefs when it imposed the “unprecedented, overbroad, and procedurally irregular” punishment, Judge Michael H. Park wrote in a Tuesday opinion for the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
