Verizon Blocks Texas Patent Holder From Transferring Assets

Verizon Wireless Personal Communications LP has secured a court order in Texas preventing a wireless technology patent collector from shifting the intellectual property to a similarly named company to avoid handing them over to a receiver.

The court appointed receiver will maintain access to the patents pending the resolution of an appeal from Traxcell Technologies LLC, the Texas Court of Appeals, Tenth District said.

“We are authorized to protect our jurisdiction by preserving the subject matter of the appeal in order to make our decrees effective,” the Waco justices said in a per curiam opinion Tuesday.
