Vaccine Mandates in South Carolina Withstand Legal Challenge

Covid-19 vaccine mandates for employees of three South Carolina municipalities and a fire district survived an early legal challenge, as a federal court in the state declined to issue a preliminary injunction.

The police, fire department, and other employees are unlikely to succeed on claims that the vaccine mandates violate their rights under the U.S. or South Carolina Constitutions, Judge David C. Norton of the U.S. District Court for District of South Carolina said Thursday.

Nor have they shown that they will suffer irreparable harm without an injunction blocking the mandates, and the public interest factors in fighting the Covid-19 ...
